Does anyone know about Onmyoudo/Taoist/Buddist Magic? I know the basics of it. Like the ideas about the five elements but no where I look does it talk about the actual spells. I've come across some of the drawings for the ofudas/wards (pieces of paper with incantations on them), but I haven't seen anything talking about the spells they actually perform. Does anyone know where I can find more information on this stuff?

I don't know much about Buddist culture, but I know our Mod Danja is...but I believe he has stepped away from his PC for a little while...hopefully someone here with better knowledge will be able to help you.

Onmyodo & Ofudas are Japanese.
Ofudas are written prayers. Onmyodos are spoken prayers/religious chants. These are religious articles, they are not instruments for magic. Faith is involved, great amounts of discipline, self sacrifice and concentration... Shinto, Buddhism, Taoism, among others have these religious articles that help their followers pray or serve as prayers in themselves - and they are not all the same. |

Yes there is a religious aspect to it, and I know the relgions are not the same. However there is an eastern magic that has been passed down and seen in all of those relgions I mentioned. The prayers are just one part of it. But the common part of it is some kind of chanting/magic that deals with demons and the sorts. Not too many people have heard of the magic part and that's what I'm trying to find out. Kinda like Wiccan and Pagan... it's a relgion but it has a magic part in it.
